PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - GUIDELINES

"WPFW programming will make the concept of community radio real by providing the local majority population with important and relevant education, information, and entertainment." (Excerpt from WPFW Mission Statement)
Written Public Service Announcements (PSAs) are the means by which important and relevant community-based education, information, and entertainment is provided to the community at-large.
Written Public service announcements must be submitted in hard copy, and addressed to the attention of Bobby Hill, WPFW Program Director. There are only two delivery options:
1) Mailed or hand-delivered to:
WPFW-Washington, 2390 Champlain St., NW, Washington, DC 20009
2) E-mailed as an attachment to:
The subject line on e-mail requests should begin ‘PSA Request'
Once received, reviewed and approved, PSA's will be placed in the WPFW PSA Log Book, making the PSA available for all on-air programmers to share during their programs. In addition, WPFW may make the determination to include select PSA's in recorded community calendars.
To better ensure that your PSA is addressed on WPFW, please ensure the following:
• The PSA clearly must include all relevant key information:
Who: The presenter
What: The event
When: The date and time of the event
Where: The location of the event
Contact: How to contact for information (name, phone number or website)
The information must be reflected in the first paragraph of the PSA.
Note 1: Before submitting, please read through and ensure that the PSA can be read in no more than :45 seconds.
Note 2: The PSA should be received by WPFW no later than 10 business days prior to the scheduled event.
In addition, the following FCC Guidelines must be adhered to:
WPFW can make the determination to not address a PSA request if it does not adhere to any of the preceding guidance.
WPFW MEDIA SPONSORSHIP - GUIDELINES

Through its programming, the station will act as a networking agent for the community-at-large." (Excerpt from WPFW Mission Statement)
As Pacifica is a non-commercial radio broadcasting foundation committed to the principles of peace and social justice, on occasion, WPFW, which is also based in the jazz aesthetic, may choose to partnership with groups and organizations (Partnering Entity) on events and performances where such natural affinities exist.
As such, media sponsorship can provide proactive benefits to both WPFW and like-minded groups and organizations.
WPFW Benefits: Event and performance-specific benefits to WPFW may include:
• Courtesy tickets for WPFW on-air audience giveaways
Partnering Entity Benefits: Relatedly, media-sponsorship benefits to the presenting or performing Entity may include:
To request media-sponsorship consideration: Please e-mail the WPFW General Manager clearly noting responses to the following:
• Event or performance POC for WPFW response.
All requests for media-sponsorship consideration must be received no later than 60 days prior to the event or performance.

WPFW - ON AIR EDITORIALS

On occasion, WPFW will air editorials on a variety of topics, as voiced by general members of the Community, Local Station Board (LSB) members, or WPFW staff.
Doing so supports the WPFW mission statement, as it makes the concept of community radio real by providing the local population with important and relevant education and information, by the station acting as a networking agent for the community-at-large."
In order for WPFW to air editorials, the following basic guidelines must be adhered to:
1) The editorial is clear and concise.
2) The editorial is grammatically correct.
3) The editorial can be voiced in 90 seconds, or less.
The WPFW General Manager, or his/her delegate, will work with the editorial requestor to ensure that the requested editorial adheres to the aforementioned guidelines.
Implementation Timeframes
Whether Community, LSB, or WPFW, the desire is to air no more than one of each during any 30-day period.

Editorial request submissions must be e-mailed to Ron Pinchback, General Manager of WPFW, at pinchback_ron@wpfw.org, using the ‘EDITORIAL SUBMISSION REQUEST' that follows.
